PrecisionBiotic cultures are unique bacterial cultures that have been specifically researched and rigorously tested by PrecisionBiotics.
All our products contain bacteria that occur naturally in the human gut and are at home there.
We spend many years observing and testing them in real people to ensure they have the precise qualities needed and that they meet our rigorous safety standards.
We have created special formulations which are stable, ensuring that none of our products need refrigeration.
We're often asked why our products contain only 1 or 2 types of bacteria, instead of a mix of 5 or even 10 types.
As scientists, we know that mixing multiple bacterial cultures can mean their individual qualities are affected. Different cultures behave in different ways and may even have competing effects. And cultures of animal origin are not native to the human gut so we do not add them.
It is the specific strain of bacteria and how that culture interacts with your unique gut bacteria that determines whether you will notice a difference.
So, our focus is on investing to find the best bacterial culture for each specific gut action. We then put each through a rigorous series of tests, culminating in clinical trials in the UK and Europe.
We produce a pure formulation, with no added bulk yoghurt or animal cultures, to provide a PrecisionBiotic® product that we can guarantee and that clinicians can recommend.
We also guarantee that the number of bacteria is the optimal amount for each PrecisionBiotic and the human gut.
Most yoghurts contain bacterial cultures. If bacterial cultures have been added during the manufacturing process, they may not be cultures that have been tested in clinical trials or that are native to the human gut.
The 1714-Serenitas® live culture in Zenflore is a unique bacterial culture that has been clinically studied in people with everyday stress1.
Zenflore is the only product that contains the 1714-Serenitas live culture. By combining this unique Bifidobacterium
The unique culture in Zenflore is a 'good' bacteria that occurs naturally in the human gut. It is part the Bifidobacteria family, one of the first kinds of bacteria passed by mother to baby at birth2.
It is a PrecisionBiotic which work specifically on the area for which it was developed.
Yes. Zenflore contains the 1714-Serenitas culture, a bacterial culture that occurs naturally in the human gut.
It's part of the Bifidobacteria family of bacteria that are given by mothers to their babies at birth2.
To ensure this natural culture reaches your gut with its properties intact, we have created a special formulation which is stable at room temperature and does not need refrigeration.
Zenflore contains the natural live bacterial culture 1714-Serenitas plus specially selected B vitamins:
There are also some excipients to help with formulation, all held in a clear capsule.
There are no known allergens in Zenflore. All raw materials used for Zenflore do not contain any allergen listed in the Directive 2007/68/EC and its amendments. The facilities we use to manufacture also ensure that during the production process, raw materials are not exposed to cross contamination from allergens.
Please see the outer pack for a full ingredient list.
How many bacteria are in each capsule of Zenflore?
A single Zenflore capsule contains 1 billion live bacteria, or 1x109colony forming units (CFUs), at the time of manufacture.
The quantity of bacteria in each capsule has been chosen for optimal action. It has been rigorously tested by scientific teams, culminating in testing in clinical trials.
Zenflore contains a single live culture, the specially selected Bifidobacterium longum 1714-Serenitas culture. As scientists, we know that mixing multiple bacterial cultures does not guarantee that each will retain its properties or that different cultures will even complement each other. Different cultures behave in different ways and may even have competing effects. Cultures of animal origin are not native to the human gut so we do not add them.
Stress is often described as a feeling of being overwhelmed, worried or run-down.
In everyday terms, stress is a feeling that people have when they are overloaded and struggling to cope with demands. Stress can affect people of all ages, genders and circumstances.
Some stress can be beneficial at times, producing a boost that provides the motivation, drive and energy to help people get through situations like exams or work deadlines15. However, an extreme and prolonged amount of stress can have health consequences and adversely affect the immune, cardiovascular, neuroendocrine and central nervous systems24.
Modern life can be busy and often mean feeling stressed. Stress left unmanaged can influence health and well-being affecting mind and body.
Signs of stress include17:
The connection between our brain and our gut is already part of how we describe experiences - having a "gut-wrenching" moment or feeling nervous with "butterflies" in the stomach. These expressions have become commonplace for a reason. We now know there is a connection between our brain and our gut.
Scientists call this connection the gut-brain axis3 - the two-way dialogue between the brain and the gut where information flows between the two organs.
There are three main communication channels between the brain and the gut4:
A key physical link that relays the information between the gut and the brain is the vagus nerve5. Approximately 80-90% of nerve fibres in the vagus nerve are going from the gut to the brain6. This nerve relays information using molecules called neurotransmitters (chemical messengers).
Evidence shows that bacteria (also known as microbes) in the gut can act on the gut-brain axis and hence influence gut-brain communications4.
The gut produces more than 90% of the serotonin found in your body 7 - this a neurotransmitter that can affect your mood and feelings of happiness and pleasure and research has shown that gut bacteria can impact its production in the gut8.
Current research indicates that a gut with a healthy microbiota is a strong predictor of health and wellbeing9.
Zenflore, with the unique 1714-Serentitas live culture and specially selected B vitamins, provides complete support for your mind and body during busy and demanding times, helping to support a healthy mind and combat stress-related fatigue.*
The special 1714-Serenitas culture in Zenflore was discovered and developed by PrecisionBiotics®, in partnership with scientists and clinicians from one of the world’s leading centres of research on the microbiome and the gut-brain axis.
By combining this unique live Bifidobacterium longum 1714® culture with specially selected vitamins, Zenflore provides a complete solution to help support a healthy mind and combat stress-related fatigue.*
This naturally occurring 'good' bacteria is part of the family of bacteria given by mother to baby at birth2.
Zenflore is suitable for those dealing with the challenges of everyday stress. Zenflore is not a medicine and is not a substitute for any medication prescribed for you by your doctor. Do not discontinue any medication without consulting your doctor.
The 1714-Serenitas culture is one of the first cultures to have shown in a clinical study to increase the activity in the areas of your brain that are associated with emotions, learning and memory1. It was also associated with a higher ability to cope with stress during a stress test1.
It acts by becoming part of the gut microbiota that are involved in the gut-brain axis, the 2-way communication between brain and gut via the vagus nerve4.
The culture in Zenflore is also involved in regulating your immune system, which plays an important role in health and well-being.
Each live culture has its own properties and all cultures are different. Each culture may impact the gut but this does not mean it will also have an impact on the brain. Very few cultures have been studied for their impact on the brain, and those that have been studied showed varying results.

Take one capsule every day. Zenflore can be taken with or without food, at any time of the day.
Note: Fruit juices are generally acidic and acid can damage the 1714-Serenitas® culture. We recommend taking Zenflore with water or milk or less acidic drinks e.g. soya, almond or rice milks.
However, Zenflore can be taken as part of a meal that has fruit juice, as the food will help protect the culture in Zenflore.
If there is an issue with swallowing the capsule, the capsule can be opened and sprinkled over food or mixed with fluids.
Do not exceed the stated dosage. Food supplements should not be used as substitutes for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of the reach of children.
